​We are passionate about helping our students express their
​love for God and hone their talents and abilities through dance.

Worship Dance

Worship Dance is a lyrical style of dance that incorporates traditional ballet techniques with other more interpretive movements. Our Worship Dance classes seek to teach students how to worship God through the art of dance in a fun and challenging environment. All dances are set to Christian music and aim to be outward expressions of genuine worship that reflect God’s character and communicate the heart of the Gospel.
AGE: 4-18

Contemporary

This class, per its name, draws on more current dance themes while still maintaining a worshipful and God honoring posture. The Contemporary style breaks away from the structure of traditional ballet and encourages the dancer to express and share the emotions that the music and dance inspire.

AGE: 9-18
EXPERIENCE: none required 

Interpretive

The interpretive class works together to tell a story through dance using music choice, a wide variety of dance styles and techniques, as well as acting or pantomime. This is a class for students age 7 and up. No previous dance training is required but certainly helpful.

Aeon

As a Christian organization, a part of our ministry is spreading the love and good news of Jesus beyond the classroom. One of the ways we achieve that is through our Aeon dance group. Aeon is a group of hand-selected teachers and students who work together to create special dances and performances with the intent of traveling to perform at churches, nursing homes, schools and events where the opportunity arises.

Aeon is not simply a dance class, it is a commitment to the mission and vision of this ministry as well as a personal sacrifice of time and effort. Extra rehearsals for Aeon dancers are mandatory including a strong intention to participate in the events In His Steps hosts and is involved in.

Dress Code
Students should wear stretchy, comfortable clothing that allows for the freedom of movement and for the teachers to be able to see the student’s form. This means no jeans, similar types of pants, or long skirts. Some examples of what to wear would be joggers, yoga pants or leggings with a t-shirt or tank top. Please do not wear clothing that is overly revealing, i.e. low-cut tops, spaghetti straps or anything that shows off the midriff. Students should wear socks or ballet shoes. Hair must be worn off the face. Ponytail, bun, braids, half up/half down (as long as it is pulled back tightly enough so that it is neat and kept out of the face - the more hair up, the better) are all acceptable.
Missed Class LImit
Consistent attendance is required as both parent and student have made a commitment to the dance program. Students will be allowed up to THREE (3) absences per semester. Any additional absences will result in the students being removed from the performance. Allowances will be made for family emergencies. For such an allowance, please see the artistic director. If your child is going to be absent, please let their teacher know ahead of time via phone call or email.
How Does a student get assigned thier worship dance class
Initial placement for new students is determined by age. Once the initial placement is made and the teacher is able to assess the student’s ability, a final placement will be made. The final placement will be agreed upon by the teacher and artistic director. If a parent would like to discuss their child’s placement, they may make an appointment with the child’s teacher.
costs beyond tuition
Besides paying tuition, parents may be expected to pay a nominal fee contributing to the cost for each recital. There will also be some cost involved in purchasing the worship dance costume.
COstumes
The general worship dance costume for girls is a plain white t-shirt, white worship dance skirt, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, gold belt, and gold scrunchie. Older students need to wear white shorts or capri leggings underneath their skirts.
Boys should wear plain white t-shirt, plain white pants, gold belt, and white socks.
Older classes or classes learning a different dance style will sometimes branch out from the usual costume.
Families will be informed of their costume requirements closer to the date of the performance.
